Competent & Qualified Person: Fall Protection Certification

Who Should Attend:
This course is appropriate for anyone responsible for fall protection planning, implementation, inspection, or oversight across construction, general industry, residential roofing, civil work, and specialty trades. Ideal candidates include:
- Foremen, superintendents, and project managers
- Safety officers, safety managers, and EHS professionals
- Site competent persons and CP designees
- Workers who make decisions about fall protection
- Workers who use fall protection equipment
Course Description (Sylabus)
This four-hour certification course delivers inspector-level fall protection training aligned to 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M, 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D, ANSI/ASSP Z359 series standards, and Hawaii-specific HIOSH requirements under HAR Title 12. Participants learn how to recognize, evaluate, and control fall hazards — and how to fulfill the legal role of Competent Person or Qualified Person in any fall protection program.
This course bridges regulatory text and real-world application. Case studies, equipment demonstrations, and a written assessment are integrated throughout.
Attendance satisfies the competent person training requirement referenced in 29 CFR 1926.503 and provides the knowledge foundation for formal Competent Person designation under your company's fall protection program. Certificate of completion is issued upon passing the end-of-course assessment.
